New Buildings Institute Webinar - Advanced Water Heating Initiative

New Buildings Institute Webinar -
Advanced Water Heating Initiative

Thursday, January 28 @ 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. PT

Water heating is the second largest energy use in U.S. homes. Heat Pump Water Heaters (HPWHs) are a decades-old, proven technology and are two to four times more efficient than electric resistance or standard gas water heaters. HPWHs support a growing number of programs and policies for energy efficiency, demand response and decarbonization. The Advanced Water Heating Initiative (AWHI) was formed in 2019 to address the need to build the market for HPWHs. In this webinar NBI and initiative partners will provide an introduction to the initiative, followed by a moderated panel session on the work being done to build market demand and advance HPWH technology in both residential and commercial applications. The session will also include a policy and program landscape overview, incentive program examples from across the county, and a look at the future of the initiative, including plans for field studies. The team will also debut an in-depth report on the activities of AWHI since 2019.
