Getting to Zero: Grid-Integrated Buildings

The role of buildings and the grid is changing as historic grid infrastructure strains to handle more centralized and distributed renewable resources, electric vehicles, and smart systems. Growing trends toward all-electric technology deployment further challenge grid health. But solutions are emerging that offer opportunities to rethink how we generate and deliver energy while achieving the carbon savings we seek. During this 90-minute webinar, presenters will share what we’re learning about how buildings can enable the transformation and decarbonization of the electricity grid.

This session will cover the topic at multiple scales: in single buildings, in portfolios, and across whole communities. Participants will learn about specific building design and operational strategies and the value potential for building-grid integration and will get a glimpse of the future: how groups of buildings will be used as virtual power plants to meet load demand and provide grid services. In addition, participants will learn how to score LEED points on their projects by using the new LEED GridOptimal Buildings Pilot Credit. 1 AIA HSW CEU Pending.
