Background

Signed into law by Governor Newsom in September 2020, Assembly Bill (AB) 841 established the SEES Program, consisting of the SRVEVR Program and the SNPFA Program. The SRVEVR Program provides funding to assess, maintain, and repair ventilation systems in public schools, prioritizing schools in underserved communities as defined by AB 841. The SNPFA Program provides funding to replace aging and inefficient plumbing fixtures and appliances in public schools and state agency buildings with water-conserving plumbing fixtures and appliances, also prioritizing facilities in underserved communities as defined by AB 841. CEC staff previously posted draft guidelines for each program that provide the proposed requirements for program participation, including eligible applicants and projects, application process, project documentation, and reporting. The Revised Staff Draft Guidelines School Reopening Ventilation and Energy Efficiency Verification and Repair Program Guidelines and Revised Staff Draft Guidelines School Noncompliant Plumbing Fixtures and Appliance Program Guidelines are available on the SEES Program page.
