What is Policy Advocacy?

As a leading advocacy organization, CEA engages with policy and code makers to usher along its Initiatives. This partnership requires constant maintenance and inputs from government agencies and a range of stakeholder groups, including:

  • NGOs

  • Professional Organizations & Trade Groups

  • Building Owners & Facilities Managers

  • Manufacturers

  • Utilities

CEA functions as a vital conduit between regulatory agencies and California energy stakeholders, explaining the regulatory process to the market, and advising regulators on market realities.

This Initiative gives CEA Members a seat at the table to discuss top-priority issues concerning California’s energy future from which to launch subsequent advocacy and codes and standards evolution work.

Initiative Priorities

  • Develop consensus recommendations to inform policy makers

  • Provide a forum for energy stakeholders to discuss openly and collectively alternative approaches to building codes and standards

  • Advancing new strategies and solutions that reflects a holistic approach to optimizing the built environment
