California Energy Commission
Unlocking Flexibility from Customer Load Management and Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Technologies
*Remote/Virtual Instructions Below
California Energy Commission (CEC) staff will conduct a series of remote-access workshops to discuss the Electric Program Investment Charge 2021-2025 Investment Plan (EPIC 4 Investment Plan) and solicit public input on specific research topics to inform the plan. While these are staff workshops, Commissioners may attend and participate, but no votes will be taken. The workshops will be held on the dates indicated in the workshop notice.
This workshop will explore research and development (R&D) advancements that can further increase the value proposition of DER technologies, including demand response, in providing grid flexibility and other important services to customers and the electric grid. Technology opportunities to increase flexibility from DERs and align electrification load impacts with clean generation will be explored for various sectors such as the building, industrial, agricultural, transportation, and water sectors.
